These emails typically claim there is an outstanding tax balance and use threats of debt collection, late fees, or interest to pressure recipients into acting quickly. They contain links or buttons designed to trick users into accessing fake tax statements or providing sensitive personal, banking, or credit card information.

Officials in Schwyz emphasized that official tax assessments and reminders are sent via physical mail rather than email. Residents are advised not to click on links in suspicious messages and to verify any tax-related claims through official government websites or contact channels. If personal or financial data has already been shared, individuals are urged to contact their financial institutions immediately to secure their accounts.
