Swiss companies see rise in female CFO appointments

There is a notable increase in the number of female Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) among listed Swiss companies. Recent appointments include Valentina Ficaio at Adecco Group, as well as leadership changes at Siegfried, Swiss Prime Site, and Tecan, where women have taken over the financial helm.

Analysis of Switzerland's 100 largest companies suggests that the CFO role offers an objective career path based on measurable competencies such as accounting, controlling, and M&A. Experts note that women may find this position more secure due to stringent performance indicators and the strategic role of acting as a ‘co-pilot’ to the CEO. While female representation in CEO positions remains low, the CFO role is increasingly serving as a stepping stone to top leadership, as seen with executives like Ricarda Demarmels and Géraldine Picaud.
