Swiss diver Michelle Heimberg reveals miscarriage before European Championships

Swiss water‑springer Michelle Heimberg, 26, disclosed that she suffered a miscarriage at the end of the first trimester just a week before traveling to the European Championships. She underwent surgery within 24 hours of the loss.

Despite the physical and emotional challenges, Heimberg competed in the one‑meter springboard event and won a silver medal, saying the medal “shines brighter than any gold” because of what it represents. She used the platform to raise awareness about pregnancy loss, encouraging others to speak openly about the experience and thanking her partner, family, friends and coaches for their support.
