Swiss Federal Control of Finance criticizes Transports'45 project
The Swiss Federal Control of Finance (CDF) has released a critical audit regarding the ‘Transports’45’ project, a long-term transport planning initiative presented by Federal Councillor Albert Rösti. The CDF identified ‘important weaknesses’ in the proposal, noting that the ETH Zurich study serving as the project's foundation is too partial to substantially ground the country's transport policy.
Furthermore, the audit concludes that project financing is not guaranteed and suggests that profitability calculations may have been ‘probably overestimated.’ This raises concerns regarding the evaluation and prioritization of selected projects. The CDF had previously requested the Federal Council to suspend the project in June until essential issues were resolved, a request that was not implemented.
