Swiss Federal Supreme Court rules on student expulsion case
The Swiss Federal Supreme Court has ruled on a case involving a high school student in the canton of Aargau who engaged in a series of severe disciplinary infractions. The student reportedly drew swastikas, denied the Holocaust, used racial slurs, performed the Hitler salute, and made jokes regarding sexual violence and bomb attacks.
Following these actions, the school rector transferred the student to a different class and threatened expulsion. The student's family challenged these measures in court, arguing that the disciplinary actions were disproportionate, that the parents were not sufficiently involved in the process, and that the principle of equality was violated since other students had also participated in similar behavior. The family contended that the student's behavior was influenced by content encountered on social media.
