Vontobel posts record H1 2026 profit as Swiss banks report strong earnings

Zurich‑based Vontobel announced a record first‑half profit of 216 million Swiss francs, up 87 % year‑on‑year, with operating income rising 24 % to 852 million francs and the cost‑income ratio improving to 67.9 %. Net new money reached 2.5 billion francs, driven by private‑client inflows, while institutional inflows were flat. The bank opened a new office in Los Angeles and plans a Düsseldorf office later in the year.

Switzerland’s SIX exchange reported an 8.5 % increase in operating profit to 893 million Swiss francs, benefitting from high trading volumes despite geopolitical tensions and rising rates.

BNP Paribas posted a Q2 profit of roughly €4.3 billion, a one‑third increase, largely thanks to equity‑trading revenue that jumped 43 % to €1.4 billion, although its share price fell about 2 % on the news.

Bellevue Group posted a net profit of CHF 1.8 million for the half‑year, with assets under management declining 8.7 % to CHF 4.8 billion amid a shift toward technology‑sector allocations.

Roche Holding reported core operating profit growth of 10 % and sales growth of 6 % for the first half of 2026, reinforcing its strong performance across the pharmaceutical portfolio.
