Swiss franc weakens against euro to 12-month low

The Swiss franc has experienced a period of depreciation, reaching its lowest level against the euro in 12 months. On August 14, 2026, the exchange rate fell to 0.9405 against the euro, a decrease from the highs seen in early 2026 when the franc reached 0.9167 against the euro.

Financial analysts attribute this weakening to easing tensions in the Gulf region, which has reduced the appeal of the franc as a ‘safe haven’ for international investors. While the franc remains stronger than the euro, the 2.79 percent decrease in value compared to earlier in the year provides a boost to the Swiss export sector and makes Switzerland more affordable for visitors from the eurozone.

In the context of the Polish market, the Swiss franc is valued at 4.5825 PLN as of August 17, 2026. The currency remains a significant factor for Polish borrowers with franc-denominated loans.
