Swiss International Air Lines pilots increase pressure over labor dispute

Pilots at Swiss International Air Lines are increasing pressure on management regarding a new collective bargaining agreement. More than 1,000 members of the Aeropers union have signed an open letter to the airline's leadership.

Negotiations have been ongoing since April. The union is seeking improved predictability regarding time off, a reduction in workload, and compensation that aligns with market standards. Aeropers spokesperson Thomas Steffen stated that the signatures demonstrate solidarity and signal an urgent need for action.

In an internal letter, Swiss CEO Jens Fehlinger expressed understanding of the pilots' concerns, noting that many of their issues are shared by the company. Fehlinger emphasized that while the airline is working on new labor models, any agreement must balance pilot needs with the company's long-term competitiveness and economic pressures. He added, “Time is running out.”
