Swiss International Air Lines receives third Airbus A350-900

Swiss International Air Lines has taken delivery of its third Airbus A350-900 at its Zurich hub. The new aircraft, registered as HB-IFC and named ‘Zug’, joins the existing fleet following the arrival of ‘Lausanne’ and ‘Delémont’.

The airline plans to deploy the aircraft on long-haul routes connecting Zurich to Shanghai and Johannesburg starting in October 2026. As part of a broader fleet modernization strategy, Swiss aims to acquire a total of ten A350-900 units by 2030 to replace older long-haul models.

The new aircraft features the ‘Swiss Senses’ cabin configuration, which includes four classes: First, Business, Premium Economy, and Economy. Parallel to the introduction of the A350, the airline is executing a retrofit program for its existing Airbus A330-300 fleet. This program, which is currently underway in Hong Kong, aims to equip the entire A330 fleet with the new cabin interior by mid-2028 to ensure a consistent product offering across its intercontinental network.
