Swiss national football team squad overhaul for Nations League

Swiss national football coach Murat Yakin has announced a 25-man squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League campaign, signaling a period of rebuilding following the World Cup. The selection features several new faces, most notably Winsley Boteli from FC Sion and Sascha Britschgi from Parma. Boteli, a 20-year-old striker, earned his first call-up following a strong season performance. Britschgi, a 20-year-old defender, also receives his first opportunity.

Several players are returning to the squad, including Zachary Athekame, Adrian Bajrami, and Alvyn Sanches. The roster maintains a core of 20 players from the recent World Cup squad. The team is currently competing in League B and aims to secure promotion back to League A by winning their group, which includes matches against Scotland, Slovenia, and North Macedonia.

Due to a suspension, striker Breel Embolo will miss the opening match against North Macedonia but is expected to be available for the subsequent fixture in Scotland.
