Swiss Parliament to review asylum decisions for Syrian refugees
The Swiss Parliament has approved a motion to review existing asylum decisions for Syrian refugees. The motion, introduced by the FDP parliamentary group, argues that the political situation in Syria has changed significantly following the regime change nearly two years ago.
Under the proposed review, asylum status is contingent upon a valid reason for protection. If the underlying reasons for protection no longer exist, the decisions must be re-evaluated. The move aims to ensure legal clarity and stability within the asylum system. Following the approval by the National Council, the matter now moves to the Council of States for consideration.
