Swiss police investigate arson near Romanian embassy in Bern

Swiss police are continuing to appeal for witnesses following a fire outside the Romanian embassy in Bern, which authorities believe was deliberately started. The incident occurred on Monday when an unidentified perpetrator placed a burning object near the embassy fence, causing flames to spread to nearby vegetation.

An embassy employee managed to extinguish the fire before the Bern fire brigade arrived to establish a precautionary watch. While no injuries were reported, the incident resulted in property damage. The Romanian embassy is housed in a neo-Baroque villa located near several other diplomatic missions, including those of Canada, the United Kingdom, and Saudi Arabia.

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that while Swiss authorities consider the incident to be minor, an investigation was launched due to its proximity to the embassy. Romania is currently cooperating with Swiss officials regarding the investigation.
