Swiss political criticism and major data breach reported
Mattea Meyer, co-president of the Social Democratic Party (PS), criticized the Swiss People's Party (UDC) during the party's congress in Thun. Meyer accused the UDC of having a structural problem with violence and criticized its leadership for showing an interest in authoritarian figures such as Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping, and Donald Trump. She further alleged that the UDC ignores alleged acts of violence within its own ranks.
Separately, the Swiss software provider PK Softech (PKS) was the victim of a significant cyberattack in late September. The breach potentially compromised the data of numerous pension funds that use the company's software, including Publica, the federal pension fund. The stolen information may include contact details, account numbers, social security numbers, salaries, and information regarding spouses. Publica is currently investigating the extent of the breach with the assistance of federal experts.
