Swiss Super League faces three-week hiatus due to FIFA calendar

The Swiss Super League is entering an unusually long three-week hiatus due to changes in the FIFA international calendar. This break is caused by the consolidation of two separate international windows into a single, extended block.

During this period, the Swiss national team will compete in four Nations League matches within eleven days. Their schedule includes away games against North Macedonia and Scotland, followed by two home matches against Slovenia and North Macedonia in Lucerne.

For domestic clubs, the pause provides a significant training window. FC Basel and Grasshoppers are expected to utilize this time effectively, particularly as Basel continues its search for a new head coach following the departure of Stephan Lichtsteiner. While national team players are on international duty, other players will focus on recovery, individual training, and friendly matches.
