Swiss swimmer Noè Ponti eyes medals at Paris European Championships

Noè Ponti, a 25‑year‑old Swiss swimmer and Olympic bronze medalist in the 100 m butterfly at Tokyo 2021, is preparing for the upcoming European Championships in Paris. He says medals remain his goal and he is testing new training methods while keeping the 2028 Olympic Games in mind.

Ponti’s record includes two World Championship silver medals in long‑course (2025), a European silver in the 100 m butterfly (2022), six European titles and three world short‑course titles. He previously missed a European final in 2024 after a bout of gastroenteritis, having contracted COVID‑19 a month before the 2022 competition.

He expects strong competition from Russia’s Egor Kornev, France’s Maxime Grousset and Hungary’s Kristóf M, and hopes the conditions in Paris will allow him to contend for gold.
