Swisscom technician sues after dismissal following 38-year career
A Swiss technician, Sébastien Perriard, is challenging his dismissal from Swisscom after 38 years of service. The termination follows an incident in a Bulle shop where Perriard, acting as a private citizen, accompanied an 83-year-old neighbor to resolve issues regarding her service contracts and devices.
Swisscom cited Perriard’s inappropriate behavior and tone during the visit as the reason for the dismissal. However, Perriard denies these allegations, noting that he has had no prior warnings or disciplinary actions during his nearly four-decade career. He maintains that his professional role is unrelated to retail shop operations.
The labor union Syndicom is supporting Perriard, initially seeking his reinstatement and now demanding compensation equivalent to six months' salary. The case is scheduled for a hearing at the Saane district labor court on November 3, 2026.
