Swissport marks 30 years of global aviation services

Swissport is celebrating its 30th anniversary, marking its evolution from a Swiss-based entity to a global aviation services provider. Founded on August 16, 1996, as Swissair Ground Services International AG following its separation from Swissair, the company initially operated in Zurich, Geneva, and Basel.

In 2025, the company reported a revenue of €3.9 billion, having doubled its turnover over the last five years. Swissport currently serves approximately 850 airlines across more than 300 airports in 49 countries. Its annual operations include handling 4 million flights, serving 243 million passengers, and processing 5.2 million tons of air cargo through 126 stations.

The company has expanded into high-growth markets including China, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and Latin America. To support future growth, Swissport is investing in cargo infrastructure in locations such as Manchester, Amsterdam, Sofia, Liege, and New York (JFK). Additionally, the company is focusing on technological advancements through Swissport Labs, utilizing artificial intelligence, automation, robotics, and data analytics to optimize aircraft turnaround and fleet management.
