Swissport to acquire majority stake in Colombia's Giraldo Hermanos International

Swissport International has signed a binding agreement to acquire a majority stake in Giraldo Hermanos International (GHI), a Colombian ground services provider. This transaction marks Swissport’s entry into the Colombian aviation market.

GHI currently operates at major airports in Bogotá and Medellín, holding licenses to provide passenger, cargo, and ramp handling services at all significant airports across Colombia. Its client base includes international carriers such as Copa Airlines, Air Europa, Turpial Airlines, Solar Cargo, and FedEx.

Swissport aims to leverage this acquisition to strengthen its presence in Latin America, where it already operates in 15 countries. The company views Colombia as a high-growth, strategically important market, noting it is South America’s second-largest domestic aviation market and the region's second-largest international air freight market. The completion of the deal remains subject to customary closing conditions and approval from Colombian regulatory and competition authorities.
