SwissTech Convention Center cancels Palantir appearance at EPFL Forum
The management of the SwissTech Convention Center has canceled the scheduled appearance of Palantir at the EPFL Forum. The decision follows significant criticism from student organizations and labor unions regarding the company’s activities.
Palantir, a large-scale data analytics firm co-founded by Peter Thiel, has faced scrutiny for its work with various governments and its involvement in controversial surveillance and immigration enforcement tools. The convention center leadership stated that the cancellation was a preventative measure, noting that ‘the risk of disturbances during the event was too high.’
Organizers of the Forum clarified that the decision was not a judgment on the company’s business practices, but rather a security measure to ensure the event could proceed without disruption.
