SwitchBot and Govee unveil new AI-powered smart home hardware

At IFA Berlin, SwitchBot introduced new smart home and AI-driven hardware. The company unveiled the Lock Ultra Max, a retrofit smart lock designed to attach to existing keys from the inside. The device features a brushless UltraDrive motor capable of opening doors in 1.1 seconds and includes a 4,200-mAh main battery alongside a CR123A backup battery.

SwitchBot also presented the AI MindClip, a portable 16.8-gram AI assistant. The device records conversations for up to 20 hours, utilizing 64 GB of local storage. It leverages AI models like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude to summarize recordings and manage tasks. The MindClip supports speaker recognition and can synchronize data with Apple and Google calendars.

Separately, Govee showcased advancements in AI-integrated lighting at CES. The AI Lighting Bot 2.0 allows users to create custom lighting scenes through text, voice, or image inputs via multi-step dialogue. Govee also introduced the Sky Ceiling Light, designed to mimic a skylight and regulate circadian rhythms using specific blue light wavelengths.
