SwitchBot launches KATA AI smart home assistant

SwitchBot has launched KATA AI, a new intelligent assistant powered by Large Language Models (LLM) integrated directly into the official SwitchBot app. Available starting from version 9.29, the assistant is designed to support users throughout the entire smart home lifecycle, including device configuration, troubleshooting, and daily control.

Users can interact with KATA AI via text or voice commands. The assistant can interpret natural language to execute complex requests, such as controlling multiple devices simultaneously or creating automations. For example, a user can describe a routine in plain language—such as opening blinds on weekday mornings—and the AI will convert that description into a functional automation. It is also capable of interpreting vague needs, such as responding to a user saying a room is ‘too dark’ by suggesting to raise electric blinds.

Beyond control, KATA AI offers technical support by utilizing OCR for product identification and accessing manuals, FAQs, and videos to guide users through installation and error resolution. SwitchBot stated that while the service processes text, voice, images, and device status, it does not store voiceprint data, and original voice recordings, images, or non-anonymized personal data are not used to train AI models.
