Switzerland Announces 2026 Basel Theater Festival and Frauenfeld Stadtkasernenfest

The Basel Theater Festival will run from 25 August to 6 September 2026 across venues in Basel, the Basel region and Solothurn, featuring thirteen international productions, performances, dance, music theatre and a wide programme of talks, workshops and parties. Highlights include an opening by Julian Hetzel with “Three Times Left is Right”, a performance by Miet Warlop titled “OneSong”, and appearances by Rabih Mroué, Lina Majdalanie, Michael Turinsky, Katy Baird, Nature Theater of Oklahoma, Susie Wang and Janaina Leite. The festival’s central hub on the former Kasernenareal offers daily talks, warm‑ups, a “Living Festival Archive” and food from Restaurant Du Coeur and Soup’n’Chill.

Meanwhile, the Stadtkasernenfest in Frauenfeld is scheduled for Saturday 29 August 2026. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. the newly opened Stadtkaserne will host exhibitions, workshops, lectures, games, a quiz, a children’s corner and a night‑time programme of concerts, dance acts and a DJ set that runs until midnight. Food stalls will serve coffee, focaccia, grilled items, Tibetan momos and sweet waffles. Visitors can also tour the still‑unused parts of the building and learn about the “Markt Thurgau Stadtkaserne” development project.
