Switzerland car prices decline amid Chinese competition
Car prices in Switzerland are experiencing a downward trend across both new and used vehicle markets. According to an analysis by AutoScout24, average prices for new cars fell by 2.6 percent compared to the second quarter, with a yearly decline of 5.8 percent.
Used car prices also saw a decrease, dropping 0.8 percent from the previous quarter and 4.3 percent compared to the same period in 2025. The most significant price drops were observed in gasoline vehicles and new plug-in hybrids, the latter of which saw a 16 percent year-on-year decrease.
Market analysts attribute this decline to increasing competition from Chinese manufacturers, who are entering the Swiss market with more competitive pricing models. While used electric vehicle prices saw a slight quarterly increase of 1.5 percent, they remain down 1.4 percent on an annual basis.
