Switzerland hosts sustainability workshops on circular economy and food waste

Various educational initiatives in Switzerland are focusing on waste reduction and the transition to a circular economy.

A practical course titled ‘From waste management to the circular economy in municipalities’ is scheduled for June 30, 2026, in Yverdon. Organized in collaboration with COSEDEC, the program aims to help municipalities implement the ‘10R’ concept—ranging from reduction to recycling—and navigate the legal frameworks necessary for resource management.

Additionally, the municipalities of Montanaire and Jorat-Menthue are hosting events focused on food waste prevention. These include an interactive conference led by foodwaste.ch expert Karim Hächler, covering topics such as climate change, expiration dates, and the political goal of halving food waste by 2030. An interactive exhibition will also be held in Thierrens in September to provide practical advice on food preservation and purchasing.
