Various regional developments and emergency services activities have been reported across Switzerland. In Bern, 107 members of the Cantonal Police were sworn in during a ceremony at the Bern Minster, including 54 newly trained officers and specialists in embassy protection, traffic, and case processing. To maintain readiness, Bern police also conduct regular medical training in life support and trauma care.
In the canton of Vaud, a 17-year-old motorcyclist died following a collision with a tractor in L’Etivaz; a criminal investigation has been opened by the youth court. Meanwhile, in Basel, ongoing resurfacing work on the A2 motorway near the Black Forest Tunnel continues, with intensive construction phases expected to last until October 5, 2026.
In St. Gallen, the Regional Command Staff of the Lower Rhine Valley conducted the ‘Abendrot’ exercise, simulating a magnitude 6.1 earthquake near Kobelwald. The drill focused on coordinating emergency services, managing infrastructure damage, and prioritizing life-saving measures during large-scale disasters.
