Switzerland reports stable risk levels for money laundering
The Swiss Federal Council has been briefed on the third national report regarding the risks of money laundering and terrorism financing. According to the report, Switzerland's overall risk exposure in these areas remains stable.
The primary threats identified include organized crime, corruption, and tax or asset-related crimes. While the risk of terrorism financing is currently considered relatively limited, the report notes that technological advancements, geopolitical shifts, and regulatory developments continue to influence the landscape.
Specific sectors identified as particularly exposed include technology-intensive and internationally oriented industries, as well as recently regulated areas. To combat these threats, recommendations have been made to improve data foundations, ensure adequate resources, and strengthen information exchange. Further reviews are planned for the reporting system, precious metal controls, and a new transparency register.
