On 5 August 2026, a passenger on a TGV travelling from Mulhouse to Colmar threatened fellow travelers. After alighting at Colmar station, the woman was followed by a civilian gendarme who intervened. The suspect drew a knife and stabbed the gendarme, causing a serious injury. The officer received immediate medical care from firefighters and a SMUR team and was rushed to the Pasteur Hospital in Colmar, where his vital prognosis was reported as not engaged.

Police and gendarmerie detained the woman at the scene. She was placed in custody on charges of attempted murder of a public authority figure. Prosecutor Jean Richert confirmed the investigation, noting that the case is being treated as a flagrant offence. The suspect remains in police custody while authorities continue their inquiries.
