Switzerland sees earthquake and new geological laboratory opening
ETH Zürich has opened the ETH Swiss Geolab in Root, a new laboratory designed to monitor Earth's changes. The facility will analyze data regarding slope movements and crop yields to facilitate the earlier detection of natural events.
Separately, a magnitude 4.0 earthquake occurred in Switzerland on a Sunday morning. The epicenter was located near Linthal, primarily affecting the cantons of Glarus, Schwyz, Uri, and Graubünden, though the tremors were felt across much of the country.
