Switzerland to deport North Macedonian man for ISIS support

The Swiss Federal Administrative Court has upheld the deportation of a 35-year-old North Macedonian national following accusations of supporting the terrorist organization ISIS. The decision follows a 2022 order by the Federal Office of Police (Fedpol), which identified the individual as radicalized.

According to court findings, the individual used social media to spread ISIS ideology and provided both financial and logistical support to the group. As part of the ruling, the individual is also banned from entering Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein for a period of 20 years.

The court acknowledged that the deportation would disrupt the individual's family life, noting that he has a wife from Kosovo and three children who hold permanent residency in Switzerland. However, the judiciary determined that the public interest regarding national security outweighs the individual's private interest in remaining in the country, suggesting the family could visit him in North Macedonia.
