Switzerland to renovate A3 motorway section between Rheinfelden Ost and Frick

The Swiss Federal Roads Office (ASTRA) has announced a comprehensive maintenance project for the A3 motorway section between Rheinfelden Ost and Frick. Having been in operation since 1974, the stretch requires extensive renovation after more than 50 years of use.

The project includes the repair of structures, facilities, and road surfaces. Key objectives are to improve traffic flow at the Frick junction and enhance environmental protection through adjustments to the drainage system. The works will also involve the temporary use of land belonging to third parties, whose owners have been notified.

Public disclosure of the project plans will take place in ten neighboring municipalities starting November 16, 2026. Noise protection measures will be addressed through two separate projects.
