Switzerland U21 football team begins crucial Euro qualifying

The Swiss U21 national football team, led by coach Alex Frei, has arrived in Lugano to begin a decisive phase of the European Championship qualification. The team is preparing for a home match against Luxembourg this Friday at the AIL Arena.

Switzerland seeks redemption following a 1-2 away loss to Luxembourg in November 2025. Following that match, the squad secured a draw against France and victories over the Faroe Islands and Estonia. The upcoming schedule also includes challenging away fixtures against Iceland and France.

Coach Alex Frei has implemented significant changes to the squad, calling up 25 players, including nine debutants. The roster includes new additions such as Lutfi Dalipi, Bung Hua Freimann, and Nico Rissi, while several previous U21 players have since been promoted to the senior national team.
