Switzerland weather forecast: Sun, showers, and thunderstorms expected Tuesday

Switzerland is expected to experience a mix of sun, showers, and isolated thunderstorms on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. A southwestern flow will bring moderately moist and unstable air, which may trigger further activity in the afternoon and evening.

In German-speaking Switzerland and the Grisons region, the morning may start cloudy with occasional precipitation in central and eastern areas, transitioning to sunnier conditions by late morning. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are possible, particularly in the mountains and occasionally in the lowlands, with afternoon temperatures around 25 degrees Celsius.

Western Switzerland and Valais will see mostly sunny mornings, though fog may appear in the Mittelland. Afternoon cloud cover will increase, bringing potential showers and thunderstorms to both the mountains and lowlands, with temperatures reaching approximately 26 degrees Celsius.

On the southern side of the Alps and in the Engadin, cloudy mornings with showers will transition to dry, sunny weather. Some showers may return to the Alps in the evening. Temperatures in the lowlands are expected to reach 26 degrees Celsius.

Looking ahead, a high-pressure system is expected to stabilize the air mass on Wednesday, followed by a strong Föhn wind on Thursday that will bring warmer air to the country.
