Switzerland weather forecast shows sun followed by thunderstorms

Switzerland is experiencing a period of variable summer weather driven by a high-pressure system extending from the British Isles. The weekend begins with mostly sunny conditions and stable air across the Alpine region.

By Sunday and Monday, temperatures are expected to rise, with highs reaching approximately 23 degrees Celsius in some areas and up to 28 degrees Celsius in others. While much of the country will remain sunny with only harmless fair-weather clouds, a shift in weather patterns is expected early in the week.

A low-pressure system over the Bay of Biscay will influence the region on Monday, leading to increased cloud cover. By the night of Tuesday, a disturbance moving from the southwest is forecasted to bring rain showers and isolated thunderstorms, particularly in the southern parts of the country. Following these disturbances, temperatures are expected to climb above 30 degrees Celsius later in the week.
