Switzerland weather forecast: Thunderstorms and wind expected
Switzerland is experiencing unsettled weather due to a low-pressure system centered over Finland. On Sunday, August 16, the region faced variable conditions with showers and strong thunderstorms, particularly in the mountains and lowlands, with temperatures reaching up to 31 degrees Celsius.
On Monday, August 17, a cold front is expected to cross the northern side of the Alps. This will lead to variable to heavily cloudy skies with showers and thunderstorms that may bring significant rainfall. In the lowlands, temperatures are expected to reach approximately 23 degrees Celsius, while the western regions and Valais may see highs of 27 degrees Celsius. Strong gusts are possible near thunderstorms, and winds may be moderate to strong in the mountains.
By Tuesday, a high-pressure system moving in from the west is forecast to dry out the air mass. On Wednesday, a strong westerly flow is expected to bring very warm air back to the country.
