Switzerland’s Alpine Panorama Trail and Pilatus Sunrise Hike draw trekkers

The Alpine Panorama Trail runs across Switzerland from Rorschach on Lake Constance to Vevey on Lake Geneva, following the foot of the Alps and Pre‑Alps. Hikers often tackle the route west‑to‑east to benefit from shade on the climbs. A popular section starts at Konolfingen, climbs to Ballenbühl viewpoint, passes through Grosshöchstetten and the forested hills of Oberthal, and continues along the ridge to Blasen and Blasenfluh before descending to Langnau im Emmental.

The Pilatus Sunrise Hike, organized by Pilatus‑Bahnen AG, departs at midnight from Alpnachstad and ascends via the Ämsigen and Chilchsteine routes to Pilatus Kulm. Over about five hours participants experience the night atmosphere and reach the summit for a spectacular sunrise over Lake Lucerne and the Alps, followed by a breakfast. The hike runs from July to October and requires very good fitness and sure‑footedness.
