Switzerland's traditional August 1 farm brunch attracts 80,000 people
Approximately 80,000 visitors attended the traditional August 1st farm brunch across Switzerland, with 283 farms offering regional specialties and fresh products. Many brunches were fully booked in advance, underscoring the event’s popularity, according to the Union Swiss Farmers (USP).
Federal Council members joined the celebrations: President Guy Parmelin visited a farm in Lucerne, Elisabeth Baume‑Schneider attended a farm in Boécourt, Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis was received in Guin, and Beat Jans visited a farm in the Emmental. The event provided an opportunity for the public to meet farming families, see animals and experience everyday farm life.
