Sword of Saint Michael relic arrives in Paraguay
The relic of the Sword of Saint Michael the Archangel has arrived in Paraguay, marking the first time in history that the object has left its sanctuary in Monte Sant'Angelo, Italy.
Upon arriving at Silvio Pettirossi International Airport, the relic was received by a delegation including Father Ladislao Suchy, rector of the Italian sanctuary, Father Marco Arciszewski, and the Paraguayan ambassador to the Holy See, Dr. Romina Taboada. The visit commemorates the 50th anniversary of the presence of the Congregation of Saint Michael the Archangel in Paraguay.
The relic is currently on display at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Asunción. A solemn consecration ceremony is scheduled to be presided over by Cardinal Adalberto Martínez, with expected attendance from President Santiago Peña and First Lady Leticia Ocampos. Religious activities and public veneration are scheduled to continue through October 19.
