Sword of Saint Michael the Archangel to visit Paraguay

The Archdiocese of Asunción has announced that the Sword of Saint Michael the Archangel will visit Paraguay from October 8 to October 19, 2026. This marks the first time in history that the relic will leave Italy to visit the country.

The sword originates from the Sanctuary of Saint Michael the Archangel in Monte Sant'Angelo, located in the Apulia region of southern Italy. The sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage site, has been a major site of Christian pilgrimage for over fifteen centuries.

Upon arrival at Silvio Pettirossi Airport, the relic will follow an itinerary involving various ecclesiastical jurisdictions and dioceses throughout Paraguay. The visit is intended to include celebrations, meetings, and prayer sessions for the faithful.
