Syair Perang Siak manuscript named National Collective Memory

The ancient manuscript ‘Syair Perang Siak’ has been officially designated as part of the 2026 National Collective Memory (IKON) by the National Library of Indonesia (Perpusnas). This recognition serves as a significant cultural milestone for Siak Regency, coinciding with its upcoming 27th anniversary on October 12, 2026.

The designation was formalized through the Decree of the Head of the National Library of Indonesia Number 154 of 2026. Perpusnas noted that the recognition acknowledges the documentary heritage's importance to Indonesia's history, culture, and civilization.

Setya Hendro Wardana, Head of the Siak Regency Library and Archives Service, expressed gratitude for the national award. The official presentation of the IKON certificate is scheduled to take place during the 2026 IKON Awarding and Memory of the World Seminar in Jakarta, held under the theme ‘Manuscripts, Memory, and National Collectivity’.
