Sydney dentist Maged Fouad Farag faces sentencing for sexual offences

Maged Fouad Farag, a 62-year-old dentist from Rockdale, appeared at the Downing Centre District Court for a sentencing hearing regarding five sexual offences committed against three women over a five-year period ending in 2024. Farag pleaded guilty to the charges.

According to an agreed statement of facts, Farag used ruses such as mandatory skin checks and massages to commit his crimes at his practice in southern Sydney. The victims, aged 19, 21, and 25, were all international students residing in Australia on student visas from Nepal and Colombia. The court heard that Farag instructed one woman to undress and lie naked on a dental chair before touching her breasts and genitals. He also photographed one woman naked and sucked the nipple of another.

During the hearing, victims provided emotional impact statements describing how the assaults shattered their sense of safety, trust, and mental well-being. One victim noted that Farag targeted her because she was young, independent, and lacked a support system in a foreign country.
