Sydney FC signs Jacob Farrell on loan from Portsmouth
Sydney FC has completed the signing of defender Jacob Farrell on a season-long loan from English Championship club Portsmouth FC. The 23-year-old arrives ahead of the 2026-27 A-League season with an option to make the transfer permanent at the end of the campaign.
Farrell, a two-time A-League champion, previously played for the Central Coast Mariners, where he was part of a historic treble-winning side in the 2023-24 season. He joined Portsmouth in July 2024 for a reported $800,000, but his time in England was limited by injuries.
Farrell expressed excitement about joining the club, stating, “I know what it takes to be successful in this league and I want to bring that experience here and help Sydney FC have another successful season.”
