Sydney FC has signed Nigerian striker Oriola Sunday on a season-long loan from the Japanese club RB Omiya. The 23-year-old centre-forward is expected to join the squad for the 2026-27 A-League Men season, with the loan arrangement scheduled to run until 30 June 2027.

Sunday arrives in Australia following a successful period in Japanese football, where he was part of the RB Omiya side that won the J3 League championship in the 2023-24 season. Sydney FC Head Coach Patrick Kisnorbo praised the signing, noting Sunday’s pace, movement, and ability to adapt to different styles of play.

The striker's arrival addresses a gap in Sydney's attacking lineup following the departure of Patrick Wood and an ACL injury to Spanish striker Víctor Campuzano. Sunday may be available for selection as early as August 18 for the club's Australia Cup quarter-final match against SD Raiders.
