Sydney man charged after alleged racial abuse of 13-year-old girl on bus

A 50-year-old man has been charged following an alleged verbal attack on a 13-year-old Muslim schoolgirl on a bus in Sydney. The incident occurred on September 10 near Strathfield Railway Station, after the teenager reportedly intervened when the man was allegedly filming another female passenger without her consent.

According to police and video footage, the man directed a barrage of racial and Islamophobic slurs at the girl, including calling her an “immigrant dog” and a “terrorist.” The victim, identified as Janna, told media that the encounter left her feeling “disgusting,” while her mother stated the child was deeply shaken. Witnesses also reported hearing the man say he could not “wait till they kill all of you.”

Police arrested the man at a residence in Greenacre on Tuesday. He has been charged with stalking or intimidating with intent to cause fear of physical harm. The suspect was refused bail and is scheduled to appear in Bankstown Local Court on Wednesday. Local MP Jason Yat-sen Li condemned the incident, stating that Strathfield will not tolerate such abuse, particularly when targeting children.
