Sydney Olympic Park masterplan aims to increase resident population to 25,000

The Sydney Olympic Park Authority is working to transform the Sydney Olympic Park precinct from a transient event destination into a permanent residential hub. The masterplan aims to increase the local population from approximately 5,000 residents to 25,000.

Acting chief executive Chris Martin described the current state of the area as a “dormitory suburb” where residents primarily live only to sleep. The new strategy seeks to create a more vibrant precinct with increased daytime and nighttime activity by integrating new housing with existing open spaces, mangroves, and parklands. The goal is to foster an environment where people can live, work, and play in a single location, potentially driving more local jobs and economic activity.
