Daly Cherry-Evans to join Hull FC after 2026 NRL season

Veteran NRL halfback Daly Cherry-Evans has confirmed he will leave the Sydney Roosters at the end of the 2026 season to join Super League club Hull FC on a one-year deal for 2027. The 37-year-old, who is the second most capped player in NRL history, intends to finish his Australian career with a premiership attempt before moving to England.

Separately, Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson addressed recent contract negotiations involving star halfback Sam Walker. Walker has reportedly declined a four-year, $5 million extension, choosing instead to pause negotiations until after the current season to focus on the club's premiership pursuit. Robinson expressed frustration regarding the leaking of these private negotiations to the media but stated he supports Walker's decision to prioritize on-field performance.

The contract situation comes amid a shifting player market influenced by upcoming NRL expansion clubs, including the PNG Chiefs.
