Sydney Royal Wine Show announces 2026 major winners

The 2026 Sydney Royal Wine Show, marking 200 years since wine was first included in the competition, has announced its major winners. Over 1,500 wines underwent blind assessment by a diverse judging panel to determine the top accolades.

Pooley Wines from Tasmania secured the Best Wine of Show with its 2024 Syrah. The family-run winery also claimed the Best Red and Best Shiraz trophies, marking a historic achievement for a Tasmanian Shiraz in categories traditionally dominated by regions like the Barossa Valley.

In the rosé category, Jacob's Creek Le Petit Rosé 2026 was awarded the trophy for Best Rosé. The wine, produced through a collaboration between facilities in Berri and Barossa, was also noted by judges for its value.

Other notable winners included Oakridge Wines in the Shiraz category and ALDI's 2026 Freya and Jules Riesling, which was recognized for its value. Approximately 58.5 per cent of all entries received a gold, silver, or bronze medal.
