The Sydney Swans secured second place on the AFL ladder following a 37-point victory over Essendon at the MCG. Sydney finished with a score of 17.10 (112) to Essendon's 11.10 (76).

Sydney established an early advantage with Chad Warner and Charlie Curnow each kicking three goals in the first quarter. Although Essendon managed to reduce the deficit to within 12 points during the third quarter, the Swans pulled away in the final term. Key performers for Sydney included Errol Gulden, who recorded a career-high 46 touches, Isaac Heeney with 29 disposals and three goals, and Charlie Curnow, who finished with four goals.

For Essendon, 20-year-old ruckman Vigo Visenti was a standout performer, recording 19 disposals, 14 hit-outs, and his first career goal. The loss continues a difficult 2026 campaign for the Bombers, who sit at the bottom of the ladder with a 2-19 record.
