Sydney Sweeney stars in new suspense thriller ‘The Housemaid’

New promotional images and comments have been released for the upcoming suspense thriller ‘The Housemaid’, starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried. Directed by Paul Feig, the film is based on the bestselling novel by Freida McFadden, which has sold over 9 million copies worldwide.

In the film, Sweeney plays Millie, a woman hired as a live-in maid for the wealthy Winchester family. As she settles into the mansion, she encounters an unsettling atmosphere marked by locked attic rooms and mysterious medications. The promotional stills highlight the tension between Millie and Nina, played by Seyfried, as well as other characters including the family's daughter and a mysterious gardener.

Sweeney, who also serves as an executive producer, expressed her connection to the character, noting that Millie is a vulnerable individual who overcomes unimaginable hardships. The film is scheduled for release in Japan on November 27, 2026.
