Sydney Thunder’s Sarah Coyte and NSW Blues’ Bryce Jackson Inspire Goulburn Juniors
On July 29, Cricket NSW’s Country Blitz visited Goulburn’s Seiffert Oval and nearby schools in Crookwell, bringing professional players Sarah Coyte of Sydney Thunder and Bryce Jackson of the NSW Blues to run junior cricket clinics. The program, part of the Woolworths Cricket Blast pathway, taught basic batting, bowling and fielding skills to boys and girls, with the aim of increasing participation in regional areas.
Coyte, a 35‑year‑old former Australian international, recalled playing in boys’ sides as a child and emphasized the importance of “discipline and patience” for young players. Jackson, a 26‑year‑old fast‑medium bowler, highlighted his own rural upbringing and the value of hard work, noting, “It’s huge for kids and shows them what can be done without huge resources.” Cricket NSW head of clubs and competition (country), Daniel Solway, described the event as “massive” for the Goulburn region, adding that it excites and inspires the next generation of cricketers.
