Sydney woman reports harassment via anonymous police reports

A woman in Sydney’s northern beaches reported being targeted by a series of vexatious police visits following court appearances by her ex-boyfriend. The victim, identified as Sally, stated that the police interventions—including house searches and welfare checks—coincided with media coverage and court dates related to her former partner’s alleged domestic violence offending.

Sally alleged that her ex-boyfriend was weaponizing systems intended for victim safety by lodging anonymous tips. These reports included claims of criminal behavior and allegations of child abuse, which led to police attending her home and workplace. Because the reports were anonymous, authorities were unable to link them to the ex-boyfriend or charge him with breaching her Apprehended Violence Order.

The ex-boyfriend currently faces eight domestic violence charges, including stalking, property damage, and assault occasioning bodily harm. Following the incidents, police flagged her residence and business to ensure officers call her before attending in the future.
